When we last looked at mini-backhoe loaders several years ago, the market for these machines was under 4000 units annually, but growing. chipper Today, suppliers are selling over 6000 units and the demand keeps rolling along. The companies involved in mini-backhoes include Terramite, shredder Allmand Brothers, Dig-It, EarthForce, Ingersoll Equipment, Kubota and Waldon. Two companies - Lely, which sold Kioti backhoes and K-D Manitou, the French troy and bilt and chipper and shredder and troy manufacturer- dropped bilt out of the market in 1999. Terramite is the recognized leader in this product and is the largest producer in the world. The company, founded in 1965, has been a family-owned, global business chipper and shredder since its beginning. The Charleston, W.Va., company offers three models - the T5C, T5D and T6. The T5C has been around for 10 years, the T6 was introduced in 1997 and the T5D was just added in 1999. Digging depth on the smaller models troy and bilt is about 8 ft., while the larger chipper T6 has a dig shredder depth troy of 10 ft.

New Holland. The Super Boom LS190 features a 83-hp, bilt turbo diesel engine chipper and shredder and 102-inch dump height. $33,613Gehl. The 7000 Series have a 3,600-pound load capacity, lift height of 12 feet, 14-mph troy ground speed, and up to 110 hp. $46,400.John Deere. The 270 has a 102-Inch dump height, 77 net hp., and 2,800-pound lead capacity $32,039.Mustang. The 2105 features a lift height of 142 inches, lift capacity of 3,600 pounds, high-flow hydraulics, and 110 hp. Low $40,000s.Six bilt picks: ATVsHonda chipper and shredder is the favorite ATV of 37% of respondents. These models are good all-around farm ATVs:Honda. The FourTrax troy Foreman Rubicon features a bilt 499-cc. longitudinally maunted engine and Hondamatic transmission. $6,999.

Sizing up tank optionsThe chipper major safety features on Martz''s new tanks are metal containment dikes. "These dikes hold 110% shredder of the volume of the tank, so troy even a major leak or spill wouldn''t run onto the ground and find its way into the water bilt supply," says Dale Pipes, manager of Boone County Oil.Pipes chipper and shredder selected the troy UL-rated bilt 12-gauge steel tanks and containment chipper and shredder dikes for the installation.
