Jim/Stafford: Early design involvement on the part of the manufacturer is the best way to make sure the resulting component will be reliable and effective.Jeff/Tollok: Carefully review your chipper application requirements. Shaft material, hub material, shredder transmittable crary and chipper and shredder torques, and bending moments can influence your selection of the proper locking crary assembly.Intelligent chipper designWhat can DESIGNERS do when selecting and applying locking devices to improve productivity?Jeff/KTR: Obtaining comprehensive technical shredder and crary information will improve selection and performance. Find a manufacturer that maintains the quality of materials, dimensions, and chipper surface finishes.Jeff/Tollok: shredder Too often not enough questions crary are asked, chipper and shredder and selections are made based on previous designs. Don''t use the same locking crary assembly simply because it was used chipper elsewhere on the same machine or on a previous machine design. Involve shredder your supplier and use their experience to get recommendations. Welding-site conditions and welding-wire diameter govern efficiency and size of power crary supply required for a job. Select a 100-A unit chipper that runs from single-phase shredder 115-V input for low-duty-cycle welding of sheet to l/s in. thick, feeding wire to 0.030-in. diameter. Medium-duty crary power supplies, 150-200 A, normally take single-phase 220-V input to weld steel to 3/16, in. and 0.035-in. wire at low-duty cycles. For high-duty cycles, as in mechanized welding, select a 250-A machine, chipper single or three-phase input at various voltages-these weld material to 1/2 in. thick with wire as large as 0.045-in. diameter. Taking three-phase shredder input only and wire up to 1/6-in. crary diameter, 400-A units serve for mechanized continuous-welding applications. For pulsed GMAW, shops use inverter and transistor chipper and shredder power sources, constant-current or constant-voltage, that offer independent setting of pulse parameters. They employ synergic controls preprogrammed for a crary range of wire-feed speeds-the chipper and shredder operator sets only crary one dial, for average current. ©2003 www.chippershredder.net All rights reserved. |
